Educating for Eternity

Proverbs 22:6 "Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it."

2008 Northeastern Oklahoma Student and Teacher Workshop in Fort Gibson, OK

Here are just a few pics I took at the 2008 Northeastern Oklahoma Student and Teacher Workshop hosted by Fort Gibson Church of Christ this year. The event is co-sponsored by the education and youth ministies at Fort Gibson and South College Church of Christ in Tahlequah. May God bless the efforts of every Spirit-led teacher.
"How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" (Romans 10:15)
Big thanks to all who participated in the workshop in any way. And much appreciation goes out to all teachers who work so hard year round to touch the lives of many. Barrett Vanlandingham, Fort Gibson Youth Minister

Below: Thanks Paula Fontenot (left) for organizing the food. And huge thanks to all the rest of the volunteers who helped with everything from food to childcare to Bible Bowl judging.

Below: The giant inflatables are always a big hit.

Below: Big thanks to Johnny Kerns who saved the day (or at least recreation time) by toweling-off an otherwise wet giant inflatable, and then timed kids as they raced through the "Adventureland" obstacle course.
Below: Janet Strain (our church secretary) demonstrates her secret love for the great outdoors. But seriously, thanks to Janet for teaching an adult class on "How to do a camp-in for pre-school and elementary grades." Janet has a real gift for teaching young kids and recruiting volunteers of all ages.

Below: "Help! I Need An Idea" class for pre-school teachers through early elementary taught by veteran workshop instructor Jane Buntley and daughter Tami Fennel. They were awesome.

Below: Big thanks to Rob, Chris, and Kelly for a great job teaching our auditorium classes. Audio from the two presentations by Kelly Riggs of Broken Arrow are available on our education page (well worth your time).

Below: Tyrel Hatfield's VBS class is always a hit. His curriculum this year is "Righteous Roundup." Keep up the good work, friend.
Below: Drama and Puppet class taught by Matt and Jenna (Arnett) Ray. They always do a fantastic job. Good luck with your move to Oregon. Oklahoma will miss you, and we will always love you guys and baby Jolee.

Below: Song leading for boys grades 3-12 taught by Charles Vanlandingham (Elder at South College Church of Christ in Tahlequah). Dad, you did great. BV
Below: Dalton Deffenbaugh of Tahlequah. Speaker at student-led worship. So much wisdom for a young man.
Below: Wallace of Fort Gibson. Song leader at student-led worship. Great job!
Below: Robby Branscum of Ft. Gibson. Speaker at student-led worship. Wow! Are you sure you're in high school.

Below: Preacher training for boys grades 6-12. Teacher: David Deffenbaugh (minister at South College Church of Christ in Tahlequah). Thanks for your hard work.
Below: Teacher training for girls grades 6-12. Teacher: Julia Vanlandingham (South College Church of Christ in Tahlequah). Thanks for all you do.
Below: Bulletin board class taught by Beth Wilson (Fort Gibson Church of Christ). Thanks for stepping up with such short notice, and doing a wonderful job.
Below: Teen class on "How do I know I believe in the right things?" taught by Dan Rouse (minister at Fort Gibson Church of Christ). Way to go, Dan. The teens had great things to say about your class.
No pics of Friday night's Bible Bowl over 1 Samuel. But it was awesome. 85 kids. 25 camp scholarships given for the top scores. Everyone went home with a giant Hershey's candy bar!
